More than $650m in premiums now runs through Ignyte Insurance's travel portfolio after the US-based insurer acquired InsureMyTrip, the Warwick, Rhode Island-based travel insurance marketplace. The deal, terms undisclosed, adds a sixth brand to the operation.
InsureMyTrip has operated since 2000, built around a multi-carrier comparison model. Consumers visit the platform to generate quotes, compare options, and bind cover. The product set spans six lines: annual protection, cruise, evacuation, student travel, travel medical, and trip cancellation. Working through partnerships with multiple insurance carriers, the platform gives buyers a side-by-side view before committing. Headquartered in Warwick, Rhode Island, it will continue operating under its current name and maintain its existing carrier network.
Ignyte CEO Geof McKernan said the company has been building a collection of travel and travel medical businesses serving clients around the world, and placed InsureMyTrip squarely in that strategy. He cited 25 years of brand equity, long-standing carrier relationships, and what he described as a loyal and growing customer base. McKernan added that Ignyte's practice is to acquire businesses it believes in and then help them achieve more. The company said it will provide capital, technology, and operational support to push the platform into its next growth phase.
Portfolio after the deal
InsureMyTrip joins five existing Ignyte travel brands: ISO Student Health Insurance, Envisage Global Insurance, AllClear, InsureandGo, and International Student Insurance. Those six brands collectively serve customers in the US, UK, Europe, and Australia, with the combined portfolio overseeing more than $650m in premiums. No per-brand breakdown was disclosed.
The acquisition follows Ignyte's carve-out of its collector vehicle division. In November 2025, Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY) announced a $615m deal to acquire four brands from Ignyte: American Collectors Insurance, JC Taylor Insurance, Condon Skelly, and Heacock Classic. That transaction left Ignyte's remaining book concentrated in travel and travel medical.
