Hyperion DeFi, Inc. repurchased 240,124 shares of its common stock at a weighted average price of $3.21 per share and retired approximately $8.6 million in legacy debt as of October 2, 2026. The company stated these actions are part of its efforts to optimize its capital structure for the benefit of common stockholders.

According to a press release, the debt paydown was partially funded by HYPE token sales. Following the payoff of the loan with Avenue Capital, Hyperion DeFi reported that it had no long-term debt outstanding. The company repaid all outstanding principal and interest due under the loan agreement.

Hyunsu Jung, Chief Executive Officer of Hyperion DeFi, said the company continued to execute on promises made to investors. He noted that September was a significant month, during which the company raised guidance, commenced share buybacks, paid down legacy debt, and announced multiple new businesses. Jung also expressed gratitude for Avenue Capital's long-term support in the company's transformation away from its legacy biotech brand, Eyenovia.

With the debt fully repaid, Jung stated that the company now has more operational flexibility to scale its onchain DeFi businesses and improve its capital structure. As of September 30, 2026, Hyperion DeFi had approximately 15,442,482 outstanding HYPD common shares. The company held $14.5 million in cash, cash equivalents, and stablecoins and owned 1.85 million Gross HYPE tokens.

The $3.21 per share figure is a gross price and does not include costs and fees. Hyperion DeFi describes itself as the first U.S. publicly listed DeFi company building on Hyperliquid. The company provides investors with access to the Hyperliquid ecosystem, which it describes as one of the fastest-growing and highest revenue-generating blockchains in the world.

Hyperliquid is a layer one blockchain optimized for high-frequency trading with 70 millisecond block times. It hosts the HyperEVM, a smart contract platform supporting decentralized financial applications. HYPE is the native token of Hyperliquid, and staked HYPE provides utility through reduced trading fees and increased referral bonuses. As of September 30, 2026, over 47 million HYPE tokens had been autonomously purchased and sequestered by the blockchain using trading fees from its central limit order books.
