$100 million is the stated cost of Wyldwood Studios, the film and lifestyle campus Zachary Levi is building on 75 acres in Bastrop County outside Austin. The "Chuck" and "Shazam!" actor sold his Los Angeles home in 2017 and relocated that year to the Texas ranch, calling California a "failed state" that is "literally and figuratively on fire" in a Fox News Digital interview alongside his "The Fix" co-star Liam Neeson.

The Wyldwood build

Spec Detail
Total investment $100 million (stated)
Site 75 acres, Bastrop County, TX
Acquired 2017
First soundstages open 2027 (projected)

The campus pairs soundstages and production offices with residential housing and wellness spaces. Levi described the model to Fox News Digital as a "new United Artists kind of studio," owned and operated by artists, designed to cut out industry middlemen and anchor a live-work community with schools and organic farming.

His reasoning runs further back. From his earliest years working in Hollywood, he said, he felt compelled to rebuild how the industry operates. That impulse drove him to find the 75 acres nine years ago. Giving up Southern California's climate and personal community was part of the calculation. Austin, he told Fox News Digital, has worked out.

The Fix

The studio project runs alongside a career pivot. "The Fix," directed by Guy Moshe from a screenplay he co-wrote with Mark Bacci, premiered in theaters Sept. 11. Levi plays Tucker, a disgraced former CIA operative mentored by a character played by Neeson. The plot begins in the aftermath of the 2021 U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan and moves to a rogue rescue mission in Tehran. The cast also includes Annet Mahendru, Grant Harvey, Augusto Aguilera, Elnaaz Norouzi, and Wes Chatham.

Levi said he sought the role because it was grittier and darker than his earlier work. Moshe, speaking to Fox News Digital, said he immediately recognized Levi as a 6'4 action lead that Hollywood had consistently passed over.
