Google and Apple are both hiring for digital-asset roles, a development CoinDesk describes as a sign that stablecoins and tokenization are becoming core expertise inside Big Tech. The job openings span specific geographic and functional areas, including tokenization in Asia and payment strategy.
Google Cloud is seeking an architect based in Hong Kong. The role focuses on assisting protocol foundations, exchanges, and custodians in tokenizing real-world assets across the Asia-Pacific region. Separately, Apple is filling a strategy lead position for Apple Pay. This role is specifically focused on Apple Card, Apple Cash, and peer-to-peer payments.
These listings follow Samsung's plan to build stablecoin features into Galaxy phones through Samsung Wallet. The move by the major technology firms suggests an expanding focus on integrating digital asset infrastructure into existing consumer and enterprise products.
In a separate development, trading platform Kalshi is facing accusations of fake trading volume on its newly launched crypto perpetual futures. Analyst Benny identified a discrepancy in the data for Kalshi's Ether perpetual contract. The contract logged 539 million in 24-hour volume against just $3.1 million in open interest. Benny noted this creates a 174-to-1 gap, which he stated is often a textbook sign of wash trading.
Benny further pointed to repetitive $5,500 trades that he said made up as much as 58% of daily volume. In response, Kalshi's product lead, identified in the report as ICOBs, pushed back against the accusations. ICOBs stated that the numbers reflect maximum potential payout rather than fake activity.
