Four days after Alisa Goods was last seen in Las Vegas, messages requesting gas money and $BTC began arriving from her phone. Goods, 63, a New York grandmother of five, was last seen Aug. 8 leaving a friend's apartment near Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue to catch a bus to a nearby CVS for iron pills; she was reported missing to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police on Aug. 10 and the texts started Aug. 12.

Roger John, Goods' longtime friend and her host during the Las Vegas visit, told KLAS-TV the last thing he saw was Goods heading downstairs. When she stopped responding to calls and texts, he was not immediately concerned because she sometimes spent hours out shopping. He eventually reached out to her family in New York.

The Bitcoin request and why it raised flags

Starting Aug. 12, Goods' niece Alana Calloway told CBS News the family began receiving messages from Goods' phone. The messages asked for gas money and Bitcoin. Calloway said the requests made no sense: Goods does not drive and had no car in Las Vegas. "What do you need gas for? The car? My aunt does not drive. There is no car," she said. The family does not know who is operating the phone.

Calloway told CBS News that possession of the phone raises the possibility that someone also has Goods. The family has checked local hospitals, jails, and the coroner's office and found no trace of her. Goods' daughter Kristen traveled from New York to Las Vegas to join the search. "I am hoping to God for the best," Kristen told KLAS-TV, "but my heart can't take what it could be, which is the worst."

LVMPD confirmed to CBS News the missing person case remains active and asked anyone with information to contact investigators. Fox News Digital reported it reached out to the department and had not received a response.
