Massachusetts sports betting has operated since Aug. 10, 2022, with seven legal sportsbook apps currently available to residents.
The state’s regulatory framework was established when Governor Charlie Baker signed House Bill 5164 into law on Aug. 10, 2022, following national approval of sports betting in 2018.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission initially licensed retail operators on that date, though the first retail locations did not open until Jan.
Online operators received approval on March 10, 2023, expanding access for bettors who prefer digital platforms over physical visits.
