South Point absorbs up to $2M monthly buffet loss as Strip count falls to four

Up to $2 million per month: South Point hotel and casino owner Michael Gaughan told the Wall Street Journal that is the loss the property absorbs to keep its budget buffet running.

Annualized, that runs between $18 million and $24 million. The buffet draws roughly 3,000 people daily, and Gaughan's case is that those people stay and play.

South Point's price ladder The breakfast buffet, which includes two Bloody Marys, is $16.95 for members. Lunch runs $22.95 for members and $26.95 for nonmembers.

The prime rib and champagne brunch, including two mimosas, starts at $32.95. Prime rib dinner steps to $37.95, or $32.95 for members.
