Twenty-five years is the gap between Kristy McNichol's last on-screen credit and the Facebook selfie Carnie Wilson, 58, posted on July 20.
The retired actress, now 63, logged her final appearance in the 1995 season finale of "Empty Nest." Wilson, a five-time Grammy Award nominee and member of Wilson Phillips, wrote that she had been "totally fangirling" at the encounter, calling it a meeting with one of her childhood idols.
The photo marks a rare public appearance for McNichol, who has largely kept from public view since retiring in 2001.
A 24-year run across two mediums McNichol entered the industry at age 8 and, by her own accounting, worked for 24 years before stepping back at 30.
