July 31, 2026 is the projected closing date for IonQ's (NYSE: IONQ) acquisition of SkyWater Technology (NASDAQ: SKYT), three days after the companies secured all required regulatory approvals on July 28.
The deal, first announced in January 2026, creates a structure where SkyWater becomes a wholly owned IonQ subsidiary while continuing to operate as the largest exclusively U.S.-based semiconductor foundry.
Transaction structure and rationale SkyWater will keep its name and serve its full customer base, commercial and federal defense, from facilities in Minnesota, Florida, and Texas.
IonQ, headquartered in College Park, Maryland, has said the acquisition is designed to materially accelerate its quantum computing roadmap by securing a fully scalable domestic supply chain.
