Hawaii crypto ATM ban takes effect October 1, making state the fourth to act

Four US states will have imposed complete bans on cryptocurrency ATMs and kiosks once Hawaii's prohibition takes effect October 1. Hawaii joins Minnesota, Tennessee, and Indiana.

All four states acted directly in response to scam activity tied to the machines. The four-state count Minnesota, Tennessee, and Indiana each enacted full prohibitions before Hawaii.

Hawaii's ban brings the total to four US states with outright crypto ATM and kiosk bans. These are complete prohibitions, not partial licensing regimes.

What a complete ban means An outright ban removes crypto ATM access within a state entirely. Operators cannot continue under a restricted license or reduced-rate structure once the law is in effect.
