The companies cannot integrate their operations. Both conditions hold until a judge issues a ruling on the merits of a multistate legal challenge or June 1, 2027 arrives, whichever comes first.

Closing is permitted five days after "the merits determination in these matters." If no merits ruling lands before June 1, 2027, the plaintiff states and the Writers Guild of America retain the right to seek a preliminary injunction and extend the freeze further.
